Braden is 5 Months Old!

Just like last month, I can't believe that he doesn't weigh more! Mom thought for sure he'd be pushing 16 lbs, and I figured he'd be well into the 15 lb range. Nope! The important thing is that he's happy, he's healthy, he's thriving and finally sleeping well... but I have a theory about why his weight has slowed down the last 2 months. He's literally sucked all the fat off me! :) I have not much left to give. I am back at, if not a little below, my pre-pregnancy weight and he's stopped gaining weight so fast because the fat content in my milk must have gone down! hehe! You can tell he's gained weight in his face, and he's growing like a weed lengthwise, he's mostly in 9 month sleepers now!
He's learning to sit on his own, which is why he's so scrunch in his 5 month picture. Here are his stats:

Weight: 14 lbs 8 oz
Length: 26"
Head: 43 cm

I do think he'll reach his goal weight of 15 lbs 6 oz at his 6 month birthday, which is double his birth weight. And even if he doesn't, I don't care! We are still going to wait until he's 6 months for solids, however it's really tempting to start early because he is DEFINITELY showing signs that he's ready! He's watching us eat more and more and even following the fork from the plate to our mouths. I'm starting to feel guilty eating in front of him. They do start soooo slow on solids, that I just might start at 5 1/2 months...who knows!

New Braden things:
  • using his hands for everything, grabbing at toys, bringing things into his mouth, examining my face!
  • rolling from back to tummy for the last 3 weeks
  • spitting! It's kinda funny, he gathers up some spit between his lips and makes a loud "pfffffffft" sound and spit goes flyin' everywhere!
  • coughing. It's one of his sounds he practices, it's a pathetic little "man" cough!
  • a routine! Alllllllmost a schedule but no set times yet. Naps 2 hours after waking, sometimes it's still a 45 minute nap, but usually a 1.5 hour nap, up for 2-2.5 hours for another nap and if he didn't have a long nap in the morning, then this nap will be long, then a cat nap in the evening and then bedtime between 8-8:30!
  • chewing, chewing, chewing, and drooling, drooling, drooling!
  • he LOVES being in the water!
  • he has learned to fling things
It's such a joy to have him in our lives and to see the daily changes in him. He's getting to be so much more interactive and he's such a smiley, giggly, happy little boy! My goal is to give Braden a real room for his 7 month birthday! Wish us luck!
