Well, Hello There, 3rd Trimester!

Some books say 27 weeks, some books say 28 weeks marks the start of the 3rd trimester. Either way...it's here, or close enough! In fact it was at this time with my last pregnancy that I started blogging! So now I can compare trimesters! My big update is next week, but it feels like I haven't said much about pregnancy...so maybe this will be a kind of a big update too! And just as a TMI warning...my male readers might want to just look at the pictures from here on out. You have been warned!
Like I said, gonna live in Old Navy jersey skirts the test of this pregnancy! #ootd
I'm saying it. I'm putting it out there. I don't feel as good this pregnancy. I feel like I have to be strong and brave and suck it up and say that I feel great and pregnancy is a breeze...but it's not always like that. I still do LOVE being pregnant. I have bump obsession, I love wearing maternity clothes (still at this point, ask me again in 10 weeks!), and I like the positive attention it brings. Last pregnancy I felt great. I didn't even feel any pregnancy problems or pains until quite late in the 3rd trimester. I had one bout of bad sciatic pain that rendered me helpless with Jay having to scoop me up hoist me off the toilet because the pain was so bad that I couldn't weight bear on my left leg. I had SI joint pain too, but nothing a massage or the chiropractor couldn't fix for me. This time...I'm feeling it. I think 100% the difference is that my body has done this before and I have a toddler to chase around and a much bigger house to take care of. Last time, it was all about me, baby. Napping, having massages whenever I wanted... This time, not so much. At all.
26 weeks today! Headed to the waterpark! I feel so different this pregnancy...definitely not as "easy" and feeling as good ad last time. But nothing to really complain about! #pregnancy
26 weeks

I still feel blessed as always that I am pregnant. We had no problems conceiving and I've had a complications-free pregnancy thus far and I will never take that for granted. BUT...I'm starting to get a bit uncomfortable. I feel like I had a belly growth spurt last week and maybe I'm just having some round ligament pain, but my belly has been pulling at the sides now, and it's getting uncomfortable to roll over in bed now. Also I am swollen. Not my hands, feet...but down there swollen. And when it's hot and humid. It HURTS. It feels like I've pulled both my groins and have massive bruising down there. I read this in books last time...but it didn't happen last time. Yowza.

Also, I am contracting like crazy. Just Braxton-Hicks, not the real, painful labor contractions....but I get them all the time. Especially with bending over and standing up and vacuuming. I'm pretty sure I might go into labor when I vacuum this time around. I am one big BH contraction when I vacuum and at work I'm really feeling it too. I think my days of wearing flip flops and flats are limited too. My feet/ankles just can't take the lack of support anymore. Good thing summer is almost over and then it's boot season! I'm really looking forward to fall, this summer has been HAWT!
I might live in this jersey skirt from Old Navy that isn't even maternity for the rest of my pregnancy. Even if it snows in October! It's the most comfortable thing bar none!Earlier at church. Same dress I wore last year to Ben & Jess's wedding. Gotta love maxi dresses!! #pregnancy
As of this morning I only have six 8 hour shifts of work left. I'm taking an early maternity leave at 30 weeks. Normally I do stop/slow down working towards the end of August as the guys are getting ready for harvest, if not out in the field already, especially on a year like this year. Then, since Baby Nelson #2 who is due today - by the way!!! is on his/her way soon, I will have absolutely no child care options, even if I did want to work a bit during harvest...and that's okay. Then when harvest is done, I'll be about 37 weeks pregnant...and I know I'm not going to want to go back for a few shifts, plus that would screw up my maternity leave hours anyway. So...going off early, not seeing it as a problem this time! Last time I worked very comfortably up until 10 days before my due date - 38.5 weeks. I wasn't working a lot, just a shift or two a week...but still. I feel a bit "defeated" this time, I do admit. Whatever!

Also, if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you'll know that I've been RAVING about Old Navy Fold-Over Jersey Skirts. I only have one right now that I'm living in...but I ordered 3 more on a 25% off sale last week. The bomb diggity, yo! And apparently I'm not the only pregnant mama who thinks so!

Do you have any pregnancy woes past or present that you'd like to share with me? I know I'm not alone!

    1. Thank you! I actually use a spray product called "beach waves" and then I add a few flat iron curls if it's not humid enough to really spring my hair!

  3. I was SO much more uncomfortable second time around. Carried so low that it always ached and felt like if I sneezed he'd go shooting out! Completely different experience for sure. I also got plagued with heart burn near the end. Blech!

    1. Uggh! Glad I'm not the only one. I feel so low already and achy. Heartburn is setting in too but I'm hoping it's coincidence of snacks I've had at work!

  5. You're so cute!!! :o)
My second pregnancy was a lot more uncomfortable than my first. There were days I could barely lift my legs up into bed, or get myself off of the couch, my groin muscles hurt so bad. All worth it though! :o)

    1. Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one. The first one was SUCH a breeze I "assumed" this one would be the same. Silly me!

  6. My whole hip and groin area has locked up/hurt randomly for months now. :/ You look great though. It won't be much longer!

    1. Yeah I know my pain is due to the swelling. Luckily it's not all the time but I don't see it getting better. It will go fast for us, won't it!

  7. I am pretty much the exact same boat as you. The past few days the muscles in my right hip have been killing me if I sit or move in the wrong way. This morning it was so bad it took my breath away. I have also had tons of braxton hicks which I didn't have at all the first time around.

  8. I agree that the second time around is much more challenging!! I contracted so much more as well. Keep going to the chiropractor, that was how I found most of my relief. Plus it gets everything ready for the big day. I hope you get some relief from the hot. Good for you to enjoy your extended maternity leave (I worked the day I was in labor with both girls) and spend some great quality time with Braden :)

  9. my pregnancy this time is actually a lot better than with Tristan though I do have that swelling problem ugh. Plus Braxton Hicks came earlier this time, with Tristan I was 34-36 weeks and this time I'm 30 weeks. Other than that, things have been way easier even when I feel crappy but that's caused by keeping up with Tristan and staying healthy (since I've been walking this time a lot I haven't gained any weight technically- I lost 20lbs in the beginning, then gained 15 back). I can't wait til fall too even though the really nice fall weather won't start or be starting til my due date. I'm just ready for sweaters and jeans!!
