Can An Old Friendship Be Rekindled!?

Well, here I am again! Our computer is fixed there was something wrong with our virus protection program. So I had an absolutely wonderful visit with my family this last weekend. Braden and I spread cheer wherever we went, and I think a lot of people needed cheering up. I haven't said a lot about my Uncle Steve, and it's not because I don't care, but just that I respect his privacy. I have been praying and hoping that he receives good news today! A quick update on Deah is that she is apparently doing and looking much much better since surgery. She came out of surgery with not one, but three chest tubes! We're praying for her too that she gets home to her girls soon!

So. Back to the title of this post. Mom and I went to a baby items sale in Beaumont on Sunday morning...and in the line-up ahead of us I saw a former friend and my heart skipped a beat. Some of you will know about Jen, she was my best friend throughout high school and university and then she literally broke up with me and ended the friendship. Strange, hey? It was probably one of the weirdest things that has ever happened to me, and I still wonder why it happened. I have been frustrated and a little angy about the abrupt end to our friendship and ironically was talking about this with Jay just last week. I was hoping I wouldn't have an awkward run in with her at the baby sale, but her mom caught my eye and smiled and called me and my mom over. I had a really hard time looking Jen in the eyes, because I didn't know what to expect. We were just cordial, I guess would be the best way to put it. Polite and showed each other pictures of our kids. I have heard updates on her throughout the years (I think it's been almost 4 years since we "broke up") from the girl that used to do my eyebrows. I knew she got married and had a little girl last year. Part of me always longed to be sharing those experiences with her. We did everything together before and I always imagined her in my life forever. So then, I get home and there's suddenly an email notification on my BlackBerry and t's an email from her. I couldn't believe it. The last email I got from her was congratulating me on my engagement. I assumed that email account was inactive, because I figured if she was big enough to congratulate me, that I would do the same. So I did. When she got engaged, married, and when I heard she was pregnant. But she never responded. At that point I gave up and said "to hell with it". But now she's emailed me and apologized for it all. She said it was nice to see me and wished me all the best with my new family. I sat on it for a couple days, put my bitterness aside, and responded. Told her that I had sent her the above mentioned emails and that I wished her all the best too. She wrote me back again and I think she wants to keep corresponding. Interesting. I guess that's all I have to say. I'm kind of puzzled by this.

  1. Interesting.......If things can be resolved and you can have a casual friendship with her I think that is great. Keep me posted.

  2. I think a person can never have too many good friends. I would like to think that you've both grown up a LOT since back then.

  3. I'm disappointed nothing about the explosion that Grampa had to deal with ... LOL ... as Mom says you can't have too many friends !
