I love this time a year. Asides from being a "single" mom with Jay working upwards of 16 hours a day...I love the fall. It is my favorite season. Had I not been marrying a farmer, I totally would have had a fall wedding. Love the colors, the smells, the weather, the decorating! I've started my fall decorating but it feels weird since we've had weather in the low 30's high 20's (Celsius, my American friends!) all September and it's going to continue on that path! I love harvest too. I'm always anxious for them to be done so I get my husband and Braden's father back, but I love it. I love cooking and baking for the guys, going for little combine dates with Jay & Braden, seeing how amazed Braden is by all this heavy duty machinery! Good times. Here's my first set of harvest pictures for the year.
Beep! Beep!
Too bad that picture had to be taken through the dirty windshield - otherwise I really like it!
Here comes Papa in the semi and he'll take it on the go! (Perhaps my husband can do a "harvest rookie lesson" guest blog on a day off, if that ever happens!)
Then we switched and took the semi back to my truck. Neato retro-looking roof in the semi, eh?
And just a couple of Instagram pics from the other day to end off this big photo dump!
Oh, heck...why not a couple of videos before your harvest lesson? This one is of Jay combining wheat swaths...
And here is a little video of dumping out the wheat into the truck:
My grandfather was a farmer. As kids we spent lots of time on the farm. Loved riding in the combine. But its funny to me to look at your harvest pictures & not have them be of harvesting CORN. Nebraska is corn, corn, corn!
I just can't ever get over how beautiful (yes, beautiful!) Braden is. I know you think so too, cause you're his mama and you're biased but just from the pictures you take that have captured his sweet face and clear eyes, you can tell he has such a beautiful personality! You guys are doing a wonderful job with him, you can tell by the joy on his face! <3
Katie - it's typically not hot enough, we don't have the "heat units" as Jay says, to grow corn! :)
Thanks, Libby.
And, Lacey...you are too sweet! I am biased, but Braden is an extremely sweet little boy and he keeps getting sweeter, I'm going to enjoy all the sweetness while it lasts!
I love going to the farm at fall time! So beautiful! Can't wait to visit :)
