Perfectly Spring?

Oh I'm a Canadian girl. An Albertan girl. I have been all my life. I know it is too early for spring, but this past weekend we've had record breaking high temperatures! It got up to +14C or close to it and the seasonal temperatures are usually around 2 degrees C! So Braden finally got to enjoy his birthday present Thomas Power Wheels on the deck!

I'm quite certain this beautiful weather isn't here to stay for too long, but while it is, we're outside playing on the deck every afternoon! There's always a spring blizzard (or 2) in our forecast before spring really settles in...but we can only hope!

Nap Buddies

For any of you who know Miles, or know enough about him, you know that he is literally a scaredy cat when it comes to babies and kids. I thought for sure when we had Braden that Miles would hide for weeks! But slowly he has gotten more friendly to Braden and even comes and sits on my lap sometimes when I'm nursing Braden. Well, I was very shocked to find that Miles had hopped into Braden's crib the other afternoon when I went to go and put Braden down for a nap. I shooed him out of there and as I was nursing Braden in his room, Miles hopped back in the crib. I didn't think anything of it cuz I figured as soon as I put Braden down for his nap Braden would scare Miles out of there, and he did. About an hour later Braden woke up...which is odd because he usually has two hour long naps. So I go in there, and this is what I find:
Miles had clearly jumped into Braden's crib again and woken him up! I figured this was a one time thing and Miles probably just didn't remember that Braden was in the crib. But then this was yesterday...
As you can see, Braden was just elated...he didn't care at all! This time, Miles was in the crib already, so I sat Braden right up next to Miles, Braden "petted" him, and by that I mean pulled on his hair, and even that wasn't enough to deter Miles. Miles had this look in his eyes that said "if I don't move or make a sound...then they won't see me". So, I knew that Miles wouldn't hurt Braden or get too close to smother him or anything...and at the end of his nap, Miles was still there....looking like that! Unbelievable! I don't want to make a habit of this, I'll be able to keep Miles, the door opening cat, out of his room when we get our door handles installed.

A Nice May Day!

Finally! A great day! Beautiful, sunny...happy day! Now if only I could have happy nights. Oi. But, this is a happy post, so enough about the crappy nights. I am so happy, I finally got to do this today:
I got to hang Braden's diapers out to dry on the clothes line! How cute are they!? I can't wait until he's big enough (okay, I can!) for his size medium FuzziBunz, they are even more cute! Kihei sought refuge in the shade of her igloo:
And even Miles decided to enjoy the nice day:
Jay and his dad are finally out in the field today spraying and will be out full-force tomorrow seeding. I'm glad the weather is supposed to be nice, because without Jay around it'll be nice to kill some time outside doing yard work and letting Braden enjoy the great outdoors! It's a good thing the weather is nice because Braden can finally wear the many rompers he has before he outgrows them! One more picture, it's absolutely hilarious:
Braden is getting so good at imitating our facial expressions and his father taught him this one. Amazing the things we will do to make him laugh! Hope you enjoy!

Where Did The Week Go?

Is it really Friday already!? It's been busy this week and has just absolutely flown by. I've only worked one shift, an evening on Wednesday, but I've been on the go every other day. Yesterday I treated myself to a pedicure to which the owner of the nail shop said "your design is on me! I like pregnant lady!" (he's Filipino and I got a design on my nails like I always do), and I had a massage, which I've been getting every 4 weeks this whole pregnancy (divine!). Then I rushed back home and we met Zakariasens at the studio stage in Rosebud for "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown". It was cute...it was okay, not quite for me. Then we came home for awhile and had a brief rest and headed back to Rosebud and had our annual dinner theatre supper with the Schultz family. Only Clarks and Joy were able to come this year with us and Jay's parents but it was still really fun, great food, and I enjoyed the play "Christmas in Wales" much more this time around.

So since we've been blessed with great weather for the latter half of this week, we have more house progess pictures to share!
View from the front.
Almost all the exterior walls are up, except for the very front wall as this is where they lift all the interior walls through I'm told, and they've made a lot of progress on the interior walls too. Our plumber finally was able to get a temporary furnace in the basement so we can get it heated to melt the snow that's accumulated there and then we can pour our basement floor. Jay has done so much work on the house, especially with the prep for the basement, I don't know where we'd be if he wasn't able to help out so much. It's getting a little overwhelming trying to think of what light fixtures, what vanity, what cabinets, color of paint, and even door knobs I want, and all those little details, but I guess it's better to start thinking about all that stuff now vs. when the baby comes in January.

This picture made me realize just how big our house is! Garage is on the far left, followed by the dining room and living room at the front.

I also just wanted to share this picture I took of Miles the other day. Brenda called over to tell us that outside our living room window that there were birds (not sure what kind, bigger than sparrows) playing in the tree. I often catch Miles staring out the window as he sits on the arm of the couch, I guess it's a form of entertainment to him, and she thought he might enjoy the show. So Jay and I coaxed him out of hiding (from under our bed near the heat registry) and we plopped him on the arm of the couch and he sure did enjoy the show! Ashamed, I must also admit that Miles gets so into the birds that visit this tree that Jay and I have both witnessed him running full tilt, pouncing, and proceeding to hit the window head first. Poor kitty!!

P.S. Only 1 week until Christmas!! Also.....we left Kihei out too long this morning and she wandered over to say hi to the framers :( She'd been doing sooooooooooo good, especially considering the nice weather we've had the last 2 days and that she can hear the guys working over at our site. Oh well, we'll keep on doing what we're doing.
